George Lopez, Damon Wayans, Jesse Tyler Ferguson assemble at Emmys 2024

TV dads gave the impression to be an early recurring theme on the 2024 Emmys Sunday night time.

It kicked off with Eugene Levy and his son Dan Levy, who performed a TV father-son duo on Schitt’s Creek, internet hosting the complete ceremony. Then a trio of TV dads assembled to current the award of Lead Actor in a Comedy Sequence: George Lopez, Damon Wayans, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Lopez notably starred because the titular dad on George Lopez, Wayans performed Michael Richards on My Spouse and Children, and Ferguson performed Mitchell Pritchett on Trendy Household — all ABC exhibits, for the reason that community hosted the telecast for the Emmys. The three actors emerged on stage on a set designed for the quintessential TV dad man cave earlier than they paid tribute to their TV wives.

They then launched the Lead Actor in a Comedy winner, a class that included Matt Berry for What We Do within the Shadows, Larry David for Curb Your Enthusiasm, Steve Martin and Martin Quick for Solely Murders within the Constructing, Jeremy Allen White for The Bear, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai for Reservoir Canines. White finally walked away with the award.
